The Power of Being a Girl
On October 15th 2008 the Kamloops Community YMCA-YWCA is hosting the third annual Power of Being a Girl Conference for 12 to 14 year old girls. The 2006 and 2007 Power of Being a Girl Conference saw over 270 girls learning, experiencing and having fun at a conference that was created for girls by girls. This years "Gurlz Group" will be involved in all aspects of planning, voicing ideas and showing how amazing girls can be! Our vision for this conference is to have an inclusive and diverse conference for girls from all parts of our community including those from various socio economic backgrounds, cultures, and family structures. To achieve inclusivity the conference is offered at no cost which is only possible through community sponsorships and partnerships with the Kamloops Community YMCA-YWCA. Supporting the Power of Being a Girl conference shows that our community supports empowering programing for young girls.
