That’s why we have a variety of mental wellness groups that support individuals of all ages and families to learn healthy coping skills, connect with others in the community, and get support all in a safe and friendly environment.

Jenna Nickle is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and is the Interim Community Services Director at YMCA BC - Kamloops. She is an experienced meditation and Mindful Self Compassion (MSC) Teacher. Jenna is committed to deepening her understand of self-compassion, cultivating gratitude, and self-love.

Circle of Security Parenting Program offers a weekly education program for parents and caregivers to improve the parent-child attachment. The program assists parents to better understand and respond to their child's needs and improve confidence in parenting skills.
Studies have shown that regular physical activity can be as effective as medication or cognitive therapy for improving mental health and effectively treating depression and anxiety.This program involves a weekly outdoor adventure and a weekly mental wellness session.
Everyone experiences worries and anxiety. The key is to learn how to make sure these don’t get in the way of doing things you care about! Y Mind Youth offers a free 7-week psychoeducational support group for young adults who experience anxiety.
The Y Mind Teen Program supports teens who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety to learn and practice healthy coping strategies to better manage stress and anxiety. Our groups provide an opportunity for teens to learn within a safe, comfortable, and fun environment, surrounded by other teens experiencing similar thoughts and feelings.

At the YMCA, we understand the important roles that physical activity and mindfulness play in coping with stress and managing mental health. That’s why we have programs like Mindful Monkeys which helps support youth to be more active and learn healthy coping strategies.
Our GLOW (Girls’ Life of Wellness) group helps support young women and non-binary youth in all five dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, social, spiritual and environmental. During the program, participants meet in groups to have healthy skill-building discussions (eg. body image, healthy relationships, setting boundaries, puberty, morals/values, etc) and participate in wellness activities.

Adult Mindfulness is a 7-week program for adults 31+ who are experiencing stress and mild to moderate anxiety. Participants will learn evidence-based strategies to increase coping. This group is led by trained mental health professionals and gives adults the chance to connect with others who are experiencing similar thoughts and feelings.
This program, designed by Drs. Kristin Neff and Chris Germer, is based on extensive psychological research and is being taught all around the world to help people overcome perfectionism, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve relationships.
