Violence Against Women Intervention and Support Services offers a continuum of services to help women and children find safety and support when leaving violence. If you or someone you know is looking for safety these programs can help.
All of our programs are open and ready to help women and children find safety and support during the pandemic. All of our supports are accessible in a variety of ways, telephone, text, email and virtually and have we have created protocols to keep you safe when accessing the Y Women's Shelter is the best option.
For a safe refuge, support for women and children, 24/7 phone support, referrals to community resources, and more. Our services are offered free of charge.
What you can expect during the pandemic:
Stopping The Violence Outreach Services
For community based support including referral and accompaniment to medical, legal and other service agencies, information and support to empower women who may prefer to navigate these systems and services on their own, individual as well as group and peer support.
The stopping the Violence Outreach worker will be offering services remotely by phone, text and as needed on a virtual platform.. Any requests for accompaniment will be considered on an individual basis.
PEACE Program
For individual and group support for children, ages 4-19, who have witnessed violence, mother survivors of violence, and non-offending parents and caregivers. We offer a safe and supportive place to walk alongside those we serve to follow them on their healing journey. Check out our information on counseling, art therapy, groups, and summer day camps.
The PEACE Program will be offering services remotely by phone and on virtual platforms. At this time we are not doing appointments in person and all groups and summer day camps are suspended.
The Y Women's Shelter relies on support for the community to be able to offer critical services to women and children fleeing violence. There are many ways to support the Y Women's Shelter and support programs including a financial gift or holding a fundraiser on our behalf. Give safety. Give possibility. Give hope.

We do accept donations of gently used in season items throughout the year except at Christmas when we accept new items only. Please call to see if we need and have space for the items you would like to donate, 250-374-6162.
