Did you know that violence against women is a $4 billion problem in Canada?
Each year, violence and abuse drive over 100,000 women and children out of their homes and into shelters. They face an uncertain future with a high risk of homelessness and poverty.
December 6th is Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, to honour 14 young women who were murdered on December 6, 1989. The Rose Campaign, named after the buttons created to commemorate the deaths of those women, works year-round to reduce violence against women, increase public awareness and prevent violence before it starts.
